Back to Bali we go …

After an intense stay on the outer islands, we return to Bali via ferry and via Lembongan island.

I was last here almost 20 years ago… A lot has changed, and it’s super busy with many non-surfing travellers from China and Korea.

The snorkelling and diving are still amazing!  and we even got to swim with Manta Rays – although it was rough and the kids were seasick and only saw the wing of one – while the Dads were able to see them in the water. Maybe better for older kids as the 5 and

It may be better for older kids as the 5 and 7-year-old’s were mostly out of their depth in the big waters this time.

Stopover in Lembongan: The waves still cook- and the favourites are there and crowded most of the time, and the other less known ones are what were the best I thought.

Using the Surftravelguru method,  I got to surf totally uncrowded waves on this island again… clocking in a few hours of great waves with fewer than 5 guys in the line up ☺ I also found a great little Kiddies wave for the boys, on a beach I’d never even been to… #thelesserknown #surftravelguru

I got to see and visit some great hotels and villas on Lembongan, so we now know the latest and the greatest and the not so great at all…….. Actually 80% of whats there is not great. ~Well, there s lots of cheap and basic stuff for sure, but 4 and 5-star type family or couple set ups— Woah beware!

TIP: Beware where you stay because many resorts are run down and not what you see on the website and many get invaded for half the day by travelling cruise boats packed with Chinese and Korean day tourists, who over crowed the resorts for lunch and 3 or so hours each day.

Back on the ferry and more big seas, but a fast and decent trip to Bali.

Our pick up is ready and waiting for our arrival – my family are transferred straight on to our Villa, (while I go off to meet and greet clients at the airport who are arriving from RSA, and transfer them to their amazing Villa up the east coast.

TIP: Make sure you have your transfers set up – always – or you waste hours on the beach and taxi ranks which are dirty and NOT NICE.

Ngurah Rai Bali airport is a heaving and heavy mass of eastern confusion and heat. It’s so nice to have a friendly face to collect you, organise your bags and whisk you away in an air-con van with ice cold water and a local sim card handed to you on arrival – it’s what we do!

Happy and stoked families:  Esterhuiser and Leck, check in and relax at the Beautiful Villa after a long flight.

Black sand beach, rim flow pool , volcano in the distance and barrels out front are already putting smiles on faces……..
