A fire broke out yesterday afternoon at Bingin Beach (known for its fast, shallow and hollow reef break wave) on Bali’s Bukit Peninsula.
While there are no current reports of any injuries, four of the beach’s cliff-side warungs were destroyed, according to local reports. We have since found out the affected warung’s are : Bale, Sunsurfstay, Julis, and Swami’s.
The fire allegedly started in one warung and quickly spread to others with ease, because of the thatched roofs,
The cause of the fire is reportedly still under investigation but it’s alleged it started when someone was welding in the first warung that went ablaze.
It took about three hours to get the fire fully out and an estimated value of losses has not yet been released, but it could reach hundreds of millions of rupiah.
Thank goodness for our amazing helper on the ground – Dion, who arranged alternate accommodation at nearby hotels (within minutes) for our clients staying in the affected warungs.
Warungs, are typical local houses made almost entirely of wood.
