Information
St Gilles is renown for its white sand beaches and many locals and tourists head to this quaint part of the western coast for sun tanning and swimming. There are plenty of bars and local restaurants buzzing during holidays and weekends and all have a French and Creole vibe. The port is always a highlight and mass of activity and interest. From markets on certain days to shops, restaurants, bars and all the activities on offer- such as dive charters and lessons, whale and dolphin trips, snorkelling excursions and romantic sun downer trips.
St Gilles is also a more tropical area in comparison to the rugged volcanic parts of the island. With majestic mountains, greenery, less wind and more sunshine, it is definitely the place ( with St Leu). There are also plenty waves around this area.
