From the 29th of June to the 05th of July 2014 Tamassa Resort in Mauritius will become home to the 6th edition of the Mauritius Ocean classic, a race which forms part of the Ocean Paddler World Surf Ski Series. This race has already established itself as one of the best downwind courses in the World Series and also as a fantastic week of surf skiing, all paddlers are welcome!
This surf ski week is a wonderful opportunity to combine your sporting passion with a wonderful family tropical Island holiday! The Tamassa Resort and Race Management team actively promote the involvement of your family and friends. There is a Fun race as well as clinics and activities for all ages and experiences.
And for the first time ever, Stand Up Paddle boarding(SUP) will be introduced. SUP is has been the fastest growing sport in the world for the past 2 years, and the location and conditions here are perfect. Coreban Internationals, Gary Van Rooyen, is backing this event and will be one of the competitors, along with some other Coreban team riders from around the world. And with other SUP racers and riders already signed up, its looking like its going to be an exciting and fun race and time.
Mauritius is known for the winds down in the South here, and this makes for a potentially awesome Downwind event. “The way SUP and down winding has grown, with the winds and location here in the South of Mauritius, and because of how centrally located Mauritius is between Africa and Australia, we feel that this event will soon grow to numbers that even exceed the Surf Ski paddlers.” Gary Van Rooyen.
