As a newlywed surfing couple – Sarah & Greg set off on their dream honeymoon to Indonesia…
They were blessed with dreamy waves and a hassle free trip where they could relax and unwind from the excitement of their big day & look forward to a lifetime of travel and adventure together…
Here’s what they had to say:
“Before I get into the actual accommodation I’d just like to make special mention of Giang, the guide who met us at the airport and organised all our hotel transfers in Bali, he was extremely friendly, informative and very accommodating to our needs. He shared some interesting local knowledge about the island and their customs and he was also the best / safest driver out the lot and he spoke impeccable English!”
Our first stop “Cookoo lodge”, was really nice; the room was perfect, comfortable bed with a/c, TV and a bar fridge for keeping our Bintang’s cold, amazing indoor/outdoor bathroom and right next to the infinity pool over looking the ocean! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the food was pretty basic but definitely adequate and the overall vibe of the villa was very relaxed with the perfect mix of luxury and comfort. We unfortunately didn’t get great waves here as there wasn’t much swell when we first arrived and the spot in front of the villa is a bit fickle but we heard from some Australian guys staying with us that it can get really good. The surrounding area was a bit too busy for our liking with not much to do in the immediate area so i’m not sure we would head back here but it was a good way to ease into our holiday.
Then onto South Sumatra, connecting flights were a breeze and definitely a good recommendation to fly with Garuda as we were charged no excess fees for our massive board bags (we took 3 boards each!). The 6 hour car ride from Bandar Lampung to the camp is definitely not for the faint hearted! “Lost Men Surf Camp” itself was pretty much what we expected, basic accommodation but more than adequate, and the location is what makes the place, we could literally roll out of bed and into the surf! Food here was great, nice variety and the staff were very friendly and helpful, super easy to rent bikes or organise a day trip somewhere. The surf was amazing and definitely worth the mission of getting there! Also the beach bar/ chill deck is a very nice addition overlooking the surf, we spent most of our free time between surfs chilling here in the hammocks.
Back to Bali and Bingin beach, “Season Lodge” was awesome and very nice to have a bit of luxury and a/c after almost 2 weeks ‘roughing’ it in Sumatra! The accommodation was pristine, the food was amazing and very reasonably priced, the vibe was awesome, right on the beach and surprisingly not too busy! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to be on the Bukit peninsular!
Then our final stop at “West Coast Retreat”, this place was awesome and our favourite stop in Bali! Amazing accommodation, food, everything but I think what we loved most was how quiet and relaxing it was. The surrounding area was not nearly as busy as other parts of Bali and the beach was surprisingly empty which is what we were after, I think if we ever go back to Bali we’d like to explore this region a bit more! The surf here also looked really promising, the swell was massive when we first arrived but we could tell it had a lot of potential! The lodge itself is amazingly done with traditional Balinese woodwork and decor, there are a number of different accommodation options and a very chilled family atmosphere, we would highly recommend this place to people with kids or anyone just looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of other parts of Bali.
Overall we had an amazing trip, 3 weeks was the perfect amount of time and we were really happy to have stayed in a number of different places so we got to see more of the island and Sumatra. It was great not having to worry about anything and it really helped us to relax knowing all the logistics had been taken care of! Thank you so much for your assistance with everything, we left it all until the last minute and you guys did a great job organising everything is such a short time and we will definitely recommend True Blue to anyone looking for a hassle free holiday! ”
Thanks again!
