Last week Sunday one of True Blue Travels top consultants headed off to Reunion Island for a week like no other. The 2014 #mascarun is an event that challenges its contestants, who consist of travel consultants from all over South Africa, to both physical and mental missions all around the island. From river rafting, to flying in helicopters as well as cocktail making challenges and eating at some of the top 5* hotels, it’s a week we are sure Candice won’t forget for a very long time!

Sunday : The #Mascarun adventure kicked off with a taste bud adventure at the Lux Hotel in St Gilles. Good thing we have a hike on tomorrow’s schedule .
Monday : It’s an early start for the #Mascarun teams as we hike to Mafate, located at 1200m altitude and only accessible by foot. A helicopter will take us back down the mountain. Today’s challenges will involve a quiz on Mafate and a cocktail mixing competition, Reunion style.
“Most amazing hike. Lunch with the locals…incredible Helicopter flight. Now free time to snorkel swim and tan with cocktail making competition tonight & dinner. Tough day 🙂 ”
Tuesday : On today’s menu: exploring the wild south and volcano Piton de la Fournaise with segways and trikes before we learn more about Reunion’s rum story. The day will end with dinner on the beach.
“Day 2 has arrived. Early wake up 515am Reunion time….( SA time 315) (yawn)…fun day ahead!”
Wednesday : Day 3 of #Mascarun. We’re off on an aquatic river adventure followed by a visit to a Vanilla plantation and a traditional Creole dinner and an evening of Maloya dancing.
“Spent the morning at Bassin La Paix enjoying a beautiful aquatic hike along with canyoning and floating down the river which included a lot of jumps off cliffs. ★”
Thursday : We go south today to explore the 30km long coral reefs that shelter the sandy beaches from the open sea. But first the #Mascarun teams will go on an unforgettable helicopter flight over the mountains and tropical rain forests of Reunion.
