Our Australian partner in the Maldives reports :
The Maldivian Government has declared a state of emergency for 30 days effective from 4 November 2015 citing ongoing national security and safety concerns. We advise you to exercise a high degree of caution in Male due to the possibility of civil unrest and large protests. You should pay close attention to your personal security at all times and follow the instructions of local authorities (see Safety and security). The level of advice has not changed. We continue to advise South Africans to exercise a high degree of caution on Malé Island, and to exercise normal safety precautions elsewhere in the Maldives.
